Robert Buchanan

Robert Buchanan

Robert is a New Zealand-based lawyer, specialising in public law. He advises on a range of public sector governance matters, both in New Zealand and internationally, including in the area of audit and assurance and on the role of supreme audit institutions in systems of public financial management. He has also held a number of governance appointments in the New Zealand public sector.
Robert was previously Assistant Auditor-General, Legal at the Office of the Auditor-General of New Zealand, and the Director of the New Zealand Law Commission.
Robert has been a member of the New Zealand Auditing and Assurance Standards Board since 2011, and the Chairperson since July 2016. He is also a member of the Institute of Directors in New Zealand and the New Zealand Law Society.
