John Gavens CPA, FCA has worked in the audit profession for more than 28 years, He is currently a Divisional Leader – Audit and Assurance of WHK Horwath. This role entails developing a newly formed audit and assurance services division created from an internal merger whilst continuing to service a small audit client base.

John has also worked as a lecturer in financial accounting and auditing at Deakin University

He has been an approved agent of the Victorian Auditor General since 1991, a member of the CA Advisory Group (providing counselling services on a voluntary basis to members) and a member of the CPA Reporting and Professional Practice module team, since its inception, including contributing author with case studies on ethics and financial reporting.

He serves as the Treasurer for Gateways Support Services Inc. (a not-for-profit organisation in the disability sector), and he is a member of the Academic Advisory Board, Faculty of Business and Law, Deakin University.
